When we join the military, we give up certain rights. Federal service workers should give up their right to vote in federal elections in order to join the federal workforce.
@bryanlharris - I think this is a really compelling idea. I was once a fed, and I’m a military spouse, but I can see how voting could represent a clear conflict of interest for these populations.
That said, I don’t think feds nor service members shouldn’t have a voice, but maybe something like making them each a compartmentalized electorate, sort of like a “state” of their own? That way you still see their voice in the popular vote, and they still can have some influence in a smaller (but arguably balanced) subset of delegates.
I recently looked at federal employment data as a heat map, and the majority of federal workers reside in Virginia, Texas, and California. It’d be interesting to seek how such a system would shift the vote in those states.
