Many entities, including political campaigns and causes, are not abiding by the opt-in requirement for texts. This is an invasion of privacy. They sometimes make it extremely difficult to opt-out by sending texts from an endless stream of different phone numbers. At times they do not abide by STOP requests. There needs to be an easier way for consumers to shut down unwanted texts without having to send a bunch of STOP requests or to wade through privacy policies to find an email address to send a request to. And again, politicians need to have to abide by it as well.

I agree completely. Everyone that I have talked to is fed up with spam calls and texts. The FEC is violating their own policies by not enforcing the Do Not Call list. It appears the an Allen Dickerson is the current chairman of the FEC. I’ve had my phone number registered on the Do Not Call list for a number of years. They say we can report violations but it appears that no one in charge and our pleas go unheeded. I have no doubt that phone numbers are being stolen by marketing companies and our privacy has been dismissed.
