Social Security is a drain on the economy and bloated. The government spent around $1.35T on it last year for reference. It’s on borrowed time and I personally don’t want to pay for something that’s not probably going to exist when I’m eligible to get it. Florida also votes for Republicans on every level, indicating that eradicating Social Security should be perfectly ok with the senior population.
I think a better idea would be to allow the option for social security to be removed from your specific paycheck. Eradicating it wouldn’t be fair for people who need it to live.
Personally, I think there should be either Social Security reform or replacement that costs far less. I’ve heard that it’s good for around a decade which means I probably won’t get even a part of it and the deficit is something that needs to be reduced (the two with the most cost seem like the military (around $900B) and Social Security (over one trillion).
Social Security needs to remain for people who invested in it. However our govt has raided this system since its inception. Time to raid the politicians illegal stock exchanges and remove all illegal alien benefits. Also no govt employees who have made decisions with our tax monies should receive pensions. Then there is Rand Paul’s observations of govt programs that should have been removed for years. If 80% of 3 letter agency employees are removed we could save money there as well
Good idea, and we can stop using taxpayer money to pay doctards next. Time to wean them off the government’s teat.
