The government aren’t out “leaders”, they are here to serve us.
There needs to be a policy that all government officials from the President down to a mayor needs to be audited to ensure they aren’t using their position to enrich themselves. Should be forensic. Anything found to be done in a way that would be illegal under the rules that they’ve set will be taken to a court. If found guilty, they must be given the maximum penalty under the law and forced to repay all ill-gotten gains. They are then no longer allowed to ever work in a governmental capacity again. Those that are not found guilty should be audited every year to ensure compliance to the laws.
Similar policies should be enacted for retirement funds, pay, medical insurance, etc.
