Enhanced Privacy Protection for U.S. Citizens

What this means?

The current ease of access to personal address information through online databases poses significant risks to American citizens. This exposure has led to numerous incidents including stalking, harassment, and more severe crimes like assault and abduction. Moreover, it fuels unwanted solicitations that disrupt daily life. Often people that disagree with one another on social media tend to dox the other person for revenge. This happens on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram; basically every social media platform and it shouldn’t be allowed. Period. In past times this was considered okay, but America is no longer safe as it used to be and this should be dealt with immediately.

The proposal on fixing this situation.

-Restrict Access to Address Information. We need to Implement a nationwide policy to remove U.S. citizens’ residential addresses from all public online databases. This addresses the root cause of many privacy violations and security breaches.

—Public Access to Records:
While maintaining the principle that public records should be accessible, we need to shift the access point. We should require individuals to visit local courthouses or county offices to view such information. This can be facilitated through:

  • County-Provided Terminals: Each county will provide computers for public use, ensuring records are accessible but not overly convenient for malicious use. Many counties already have these computers available for real estate records and other relevant county/city information.

  • Implement User Tracking: Each access will require a login, linked to the user’s identity. This system will help trace misuse back to the individual, deterring criminal activities.

These are the benefits of implementing this policy.

  • Enhanced Personal Security: By limiting access, we reduce the instances of crimes that stem from easily obtainable personal data.
  • Reduced Nuisance: Decreases unsolicited mail and prank activities.
  • Accountability: With logged access, criminal misuse of information becomes traceable, potentially preventing crimes before they occur.

Implementation:
This policy would require coordination between federal, state, and local governments to ensure uniform application and compliance across all jurisdictions. It represents a step forward in leveraging technology for privacy, rather than against it, ensuring that while information remains public, its access is responsibly managed.
