End the IRS by implementing a flat sales tax

Stop the collection of all taxes and fees at all levels of society. Implement one flat sales tax on everything that is purchased by the end user. A percentage of the tax collected would be given to the city, a portion to the state, and the remainder to the federal government. The system of collecting sales tax is already in place which does not involve the IRS. Dissolve the IRS. This way, everyone pays their “fair share”. If you buy a pack of gum you pay the cost plus 25%. If you buy a home you pay the cost plus 25%. If you buy a yacht or a Ferrari you pay the cost plus 25%. There would be a temptation to exempt basic necessities and food but if you do that then when will it stop? Next thing you know everything ends up being exempt. Everyone pays the consumption tax on everything that is purchased. No exceptions. 25% is just a number that is thrown out there. An analysis of current expenditures across cities, states, and the federal government would be calculated. Then an analysis of all consumption is calculated. A percentage is derived based on the two numbers. Then you have to stick to a budget in order to keep the sales tax percentage in check. Americans are being nickel and dimed on taxes and fees all the time. We probably pay at least 50% of our income to local, state, and government agencies. This has to stop.

I agree with this on the federal level. State and local governments must be left to decide their own income tax strategies. The federal govt. should NOT impose on the states rights. I initially thought that basic necessities should be excluded from taxation, but ultimately agree with your argument on scope creep. Make it NO exceptions. Easier to administer with no exceptions, and language that dissuades ANY carveouts in the future. FYI, common flat tax proposals in the past estimated a 17% tax would provide revenue neutral federal income.

Decent idea, but I think this would create / expand black market activities.

Love the idea. 25% tax on a house??? That would hurt those trying to buy their first house! Yikes!

Why any tax at all? EVERYTHING you pay in federal taxes goes straight to the Federal Reserve, a FOREIGN PRIVATE bank owned by Jews who print money at our government’s request and then loans it back with f*ing interest. Fk the Fed.

Please go to my Amendment:

Ending the IRS is a fantastic idea. In doing that we also need to address prior tax liens that are filed in the counties we reside in. In the past years it is very well known that they target conservatives and destroy business. We paid taxes for years and then Obama Care came into the situation. The entire system was flawed, and small business owners were not able to accurately predict their income and then was assessed large penalties for that.

Possibly, and I think that some systems may have to be put in place to ensure that a black market issue is an exception not a pervasive problem.

I think that the goal would be to simplify the execution. One common platform at all levels and across states makes auditing easier and makes for a transparent system. Transparency is what our country needs. But the devil is in the details and I agree that state’s rights are vitally important.

25% was just a generic number that I used. I would hope and expect that it would be much lower. However, in response to home purchases, a flat tax up front with no subsequent real estate / property taxes is the intent. That makes the up front cost more palatable.

I agree with you. However, we need money to fund the most basic responsibilities that our city, state, and federal governments are required to execute. I believe that the scope of those responsibilities is very narrow. We have allowed that scope to increase and get out of control. We should reduce the scope of government then utilize tariffs to fund our government. Not sure if that would be enough though.

Why replace it with anything, just get rid of it
