End all government subsidies. They were put in place by FDR to buy votes. Farm Subsidies have no economic reason to exist. Subsidies for green energy, fossil fuels and the like have no reason to exist. Hoover Institution John Cochrane has blogged about this in his blog at The Grumpy Economist and would be a good person for the Trump Administration to speak with.
Subsidies end up costing Americans more money. For example, there is a peanut subsidy. We pay farmers to farm peanuts. They grow too many. The government then pays to take peanuts out of the market and stores them or throws them away. This adds around fifty cents per jar of peanut butter to the cost for Americans in the grocery store.
