There is no reason for America to allow child marriage. Children cannot consent, and marriage is a life impacting decision

I agree, which civilised person would disagree, however you open a can of worms. Islam believes in child marriage, cousin marriage, multiple wives, beating your wife in fact many of their beliefs are not compatible with a civilised society. This will be seen as anti Islam and leftist would call it an attack on religious freedom. Their most esteemed prophet married a six year old. I would also point out that whist congress refuses to take action against one of their own who married her brother then the example of what congress is willing to accept is clear.

Where in the United States is this happening? Are there 5 year old children someplace in the US that are being married?
There is also a law on the books forbidding you marrying your brother. It appears it does not apply to congress women. If a law is not enforced it is meaningless. Bill, yes underage Americans are being forced into marriage. Many are shipped out of the USA back to the homelands (they fled in fear) to be forcibly married. This has also been recorded in the UK where young girl have been killed for resisting.
So you agree there are already laws forbidding child marriage. I guess what I fail to understand is the heading of this section entitled “End Child Marriage”. If there is already laws ending it, then it seems that what needs to happen is to enforce the laws already in place. How would making another law result in ending child marriage, when the current law is already failing in that effort?
I agree that child marriage shouldn’t be allowed. As I understand it, the law that exists isn’t being enforced. What has to happen to ensure the law is obeyed and those violating it are prosecuted?
I think we are in agreement, however making useless laws so congress can be seen to be doing something is the norm. The last notable example was the Lankford border bill. New law when all we needed was a new president and enforce the laws, hence me pointing out Omar.

If this is happening, then the laws forbidding it need to be enforced. Making new laws forbidding something that is already illegal does not solve the problem. A law that is not being enforced is of no use. When we become aware of these laws being violated then we should demand their enforcement.
