Registering vehicles has become another means of extorting money from the citizens. Same with drivers license renewals, marriage licensing. Why should we have to register a vehicle? Why does a license need to be renewed -we get older, we don’t change. Why do they need to know our vehicles or addresses? Pretty sure it’s unconstitutional. And NOBODY needs permission from the government to get married! That’s just ridiculous! These a “little” freedoms, yet freedoms we have been granted as free citizens by the constitution. The laws regarding them, remove those rights, then charge you out the wazoo to be licensed, then charge you ( monetarily as well as lawfare) if you do not comply.

Why do you feel they need to change? Why do they need to know our address? Why do they need to know anything about us unless we are conducting business with them? How does that define a free person? Did drivers have licenses when automobiles first came out? It wasn’t until somebody, somewhere DECIDED for all, that a license needed to be required. The constitution is specific on this. Commerce purposes only. And of course we change, I simply meant our identification such as social security number does not. We are still the same person with the same dl # unless we’ve moved…

We don’t NEED to change, we just do! People change as they get older. My eyes and ears are not working as well as they used to. One important purpose of driver’s licenses being renewed is to assess the driver’s continued ability to drive. Periodic renewal is necessary.

I was writing the same policy proposal and saw yours! Abolish nefarious rules for the requirement of license plates and vehicle registration. Yes. I agree! The Constitution does not allow for our travel to be encumbered. By anything. We have the RIGHT to travel without being bothered, harassed, monitored, and free of payment to do so. Let’s use a bill of sale and the vin # for ownership, privately. No other documentation needs to happen under Constitutional Law- via Amendments 5 and 14. Thank you for this!

That is a consideration, for sure. However, we have inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As an inalienable right of liberty, I can resist any form of government telling me what I should do concerning my body and limiting me thusly after they make a decision upon me. Constitution. I will be the judge of what I need to do, no matter what age. (And, we are not talking about abortion, here, because that is a discussion where their are two lives to consider.) This is about my life, my body, my preference, and my responsibility as a free person. Great topic to consider!
The inalienable right of liberty is limited by the imperative to protect the safety of others. It is not absolute. A driver’s license renewal is necessary to protect the public from a grandfather with 20/200 vision and hard of hearing driving down the highway.
Agreed, but what is your point? Are you saying that we should let every driver decide for themselves if they are able to drive without endangering others?
Yes. That’s liberty.
That’s anarchy to let every driver decide for themselves. I don’t want an emboldened 13 year old, or a half-blind 80 year old, driving down the highway while I’m on it.

@yowzah Ohhhh, kinda like how folks were adamant about telling the nonvaxers to get the experimental clot shots to protect the safety of others and if they didn’t they were called murders? Give me a break. We are only responsible for protecting our own safety, just like with the choice of taking the clot shots or not. There should be no restrictions on our own sovereignty, sir. I live in Florida, there are a LOT of older folks here that drive way under the speed limit, or can barely see past the steering wheel, yet they are still licensed? Make it make sense, sir.
You don’t retest when you renew, you just pay a fee. They may check your eyesight, but I think most people can keep up with that themselves.
