Besides English and math, emotional intelligence classes should be implemented into the school system. Over the next 5-10 years, training for teachers for students from late elementary through high school should be introduced into the educational system to decrease political and emotional discourse. basic principles of psychology, such as self fulfilling prophecy, internal vs external locus on control, and so on can be introduced to increase internal responsibility and growth mindset in students. Along with this, the RULER (regulate self, understand emotions, label emotions, express emotions appropriately, regulate others emotions) system for emotional intelligence should be setup into schools to promote a more comfortable school environment.
Less related, but systems to prepare for alternative paths out of high school besides college, such as bussing juniors and seniors to internships for blue collar work/education, or creating skills classes in high school would also be beneficial.
