Early Hearing detection program funding

Looking for more infromation on why and how President Trump plans on keeping in place support for parents of deaf children. He eliminated funding for analzing data to help states and communities get support for babies born deaf or hard of hearing. I understand goverment is probably not doing its best when it comes to supporting parents who are hearing, find programs for thier children who were born deaf. The goverment and school systems did the bare minimum when my son was born deaf in 1995.

Early intervention is most importaint. Getting parents some help on this journey is imparatiave. Most doctors will come in and say "well we need to get the child aided and hearing ASAP. We need to get them fixed, and back to normal. " A deaf child is not broken and while some may thrive with a hearing aid or coclar implant not all will. The deaf community has very strong views on the CI. and there is nothing wrong with Sign Language or even Total Communication. TC is widley used with success. A great HI Teacher can identifiy what is working well for each indiviidual child. That same teacher working with the parents can get that family set on a path where said child will thrive and go on to do great things. Just as any so called "normal " child.

I believe Trump eliminated funding because too much was being wasted and not doing what it was intended. Perhaps instead pulling funds he should have had these people involved re interview for thier jobs. The re interview process should be conducted by staff at Gallaudet University. RIght to the source.

Bottom line is that deaf children and thier parents need education from birth. They need support from the community, and goverment programs need to be avilable and we need support to come from other Deaf adults. Not hearing people who feel they know best.
