Disability for the American worker

This is certainly not a popular topic but one that’s near and dear to my heart. I think it’s time we address disability among American workers. How is it that our veterans can get a disability while serving and make over 4000.00 for disability with a dependent and one child yet if the American worker becomes disabled the average SSDI payment is only $1489. I certainly respect and appreciate our service members and my dad was disabled military but our workers are important too. How can a 100 % disabled military member draw full pay and continue to work yet a disabled worker loses 1.00 for every 2.00 earned. How can a worker whose taken out LTD become disabled and dang near become homeless? Why do we pay for LTD insurance to protect us only to have it reduced when we’re forced to apply for SSDI? There is something inherently wrong when someone does everything the right way, works, pays taxes, takes out LTD insurance in the event something happens and then when it does they are basically left homeless! Why does it take so much more for a disabled military member to survive than the American worker? One injury, illness or accident shouldn’t wipe out a lifetime of hard work and savings in order to continue living.
