Daylight savings time

I believe we all would like
To see daylight savings time to stop.
It’s a bad idea and always has been. We all should agree on this issue if I’m wrong I apologize but it is nothing but a waste

Hello Mary, thank you for posting your idea. I think it is important for people to be familiar with the origins of Daylight Saving Time to make an informed decision, and the following website provides a concise history and rationale for the practice of Daylight Saving Time: Why Do We Have Daylight Saving Time? | HISTORY

As a kind gesture of correction, the correct term for this practice is Daylight Saving Time, or DST (not “savings”).

For the record, one benefit of keeping DST that I see is that it provides more daylight hours during the summer months for people to enjoy outdoor activities.

Thanks again for posting your idea!

Agree!! Stop Daylight Savings time and keep the Spring Schedule year-round to allow for more light later.

I prefer daylight savings time to standard time. I love having daylight after work in the evenings. Dark at 5pm is depressing. But what I want most is to stop these absurd time changes.

I agree with you . . . I may have said it backwards . . lol.

I would like to see us stick with daylight standard time. There are studies out there that show standard time is better for our sleeping habits and health. I know while we are on standard time, my sleep is so much better and I feel rested.

Yep. Daylight savings time is awful. I screws up my sleep patterns, and I spend most of the year exhausted now. DST doesn’t add more daylight hours. All it does is shift the clock. It needs to go.

100% it costs I’ve heard millions of dollars each time we do it. People need to understand we can’t manipulate everything to our liking and get back to basics. Time is time, it is a natural thing outside of man

I think we should remove daylight saving time. The reason it’s being proposed to keep it, if a change were made, is because of the difficulty of repealing the bill.
If you know why it was created, you should be more inclined to remove it, not less. Let corporations do the shifting and put us back in sync with our natural circadian rhythms.

Thank you for that history lesson, it was interesting. I noted that even the article ended with current criticisms against DST. Let’s split the difference: I would like to propose that come the first Sunday in April 2025, we move our clocks back only 30 minutes and then we never move them again. We would need to request Hawaii and Arizona (states that opted out of DST) move their clocks back 30 minutes as well. Then we can all be on the same page. The changing twice a year negatively impacts sleep patterns and we all know that Americans are already chronically sleep-deprived.

Make DST the standard - no one likes it dark at 5PM. Simple as that.

I want to say have both systems, overtime people will choose one.

I agree with you. Daylight saving time was to help farmers with added light for planting and harvesting. Now, with the use of GPS, farmers don’t need that extra hour of light. I don’t like the interruptions to my sleep patterns. My animal don’t recognize DST and if the animal kingdom prefers their normal circadian rhythm then so do humans.

Cows and chickens do not use clocks. All of the farmers around here operate by daylight, not time.

100% agree with you. I have family in the Caribbean islands and their time does not change. Actually many places time do not change and we should do the same. It’s only hard for us to keep track and could avoid seasonal depression in many Americans today. Leave time as is (Daylight Saving)!
Thanks
