The mechanisms of chronic disease have been elucidated, with major organizations including the NHANES study, the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association and others clearly stating that nutritional deficiencies are a major contributor to the overwhelming chronic disease epidemic. At the same time payers will only provide coverage for evidence-based healthcare. This coalition of providers propose to close this gap, via a policy to provide access to increased funding for evidence-based studies in nutritional treatment of chronic disease. The NCCIH is currently difficult to access, with funding going within the established structure. Opening the funding process to private providers who are on the front lines will much more rapidly solve the problems of this epidemic.
