Internet searches have become heavily censored. It’s time for a new, independent search engine created by and for the people—one that doesn’t just prioritize mass media or “approved” organizations in its results.
Years ago, a Google search would uncover obscure websites, personal blogs, and a wide variety of voices and perspectives. Today, most search results are dominated by mainstream media outlets and large organizations with the resources to shape public opinion, not only in America but globally.
Even search suggestions have become increasingly filtered.
We need a new search engine that echoes the freedom and diversity of the early internet—before major corporations realized the power and control they could wield through search algorithms. A search engine for the people, where every voice can be heard, and every website has a chance to be discovered.
