Airlines and governments across the world, such as Airbus and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), are currently researching opportunities to reduce the amount of pilots on a commercial flight, in some instances down to only one pilot. Not only does this present a danger to the American flying public but it could also cost many pilots a potential job. The purpose of having at least two pilots in the flight deck is to increase situational awareness and to check each other to ensure safe decisions are made. America should not have to sacrifice their safety in the skies so that an airline can become more profitable.
