I’m old enough to remember quality products that were built to last a lifetime. This is so much more sensible and respectful to our environment than the low quality, planned obsolescence, disposable products that break down after 1 year. I would like to see the manufacturing of safe, high quality products brought back to America.
Reduce the manufacturing of plastic products. Make clothing out of 100% cotton or other natural material. The use of synthetics in everything is resulting in forever chemicals in our drinking water.
Use Cradle to grave manufacturing practices where a company considers the environmental impact of a product throughout its entire life cycle, from the extraction of raw materials (“cradle”) to its eventual disposal (“grave”), including manufacturing, transportation, usage, and end-of-life management, with the goal of minimizing waste and pollution at every stage.
We have a waste disposal problem. Too much of recyclables end up in the landfill. Our local reclamation center is unable to contain the waste odors and creates a health hazard to nearby residents. We are running out of space for landfills. Incinerators create air pollution. Shipping trash to other countries or dumping them in the ocean is unacceptable. Our current disposable society is not sustainable. We should use cradle to grave manufacturing of safe, high quality products to address the many problems caused by unnecessary waste.
