There are so many members of congress that have been there for what feels like forever. I really don’t understand how people that probably can barely use a smartphone, are making decisions for the people of America. If the President of the United States has term limits, so should congress!
Agreed! We should also have age limits on Congress members and the Presidency.
I actually don’t believe in age limits. With age, comes experience and ever expanding knowledge, even if just through life experience. I definitely believe in term limits. It doesn’t matter if you start off younger and work your way through the different levels of government, then retire or go into the private sector or if you work in the private sector, then decide you want to try to make a positive difference in your country later in life.
A lot of people at that age have wisdom, but with age also comes mental decline, as well as the proven lack of willingness to change their opinion. The majority of politicians that are on the older end are either too confused/unconcerned to do anything that really causes change or are stuck in their ways and unwilling to learn and listen.
We need age limits. Biden and Trump are too old to be our presidents, both of them have very obviously declining mental stability and physical ability. Please remember that these people hold out very livelihoods in their hands, especially with all of the executive orders trump is signing.
Let me see…the policy clearly states that we should have term limits for CONGRESS, yet some people in here with clear TDS seem to twist it around into "Trump " being too old to sign all of those scary executive orders. Typical Democrat misdirection in clear view.
For being “too old” Trump sure is a one-man wrecking crew for the Deep State. Imagine that…an old and feeble man, single-handedly destroying the massive Deep State. Perhaps we should finally retire the Deep State for being even more feeble than the “old man”.
It’s not misdirection, just another idea that is semi-related. It was not an attack at any individual, I simply used the recent examples of Biden and Trump being old to exemplify why this is needed.
What part of the deep state has he uncovered? All he’s done is close down entire agencies. Why not fix them instead of removing the good things they do? You cannot tell me you believe that every single action and person in every group he has shut down are corrupt. Why not root out the corruption instead of burning the whole group down?
Most people prefer to burn the house down and rebuild it when the termite infestation becomes too great to continue expensive house maintanence. I think your argument is several decades too late. Perhaps others in here might chime in on their answer to you as well, since you now know my stand.
He has made it very clear that these organizations will not be reinstalled.
And meanwhile people are dying and losing money while he fiddles around to "rebuild the perfect American government
I understand needing to fix the system
But we need to have a replacement to put in it’s place before burning it down.
It doesn’t make sense to give away your house if you have no job to help pay for a new one.
Unfortunately, the American People welcome the wrecking ball… they elected said wrecking ball. They do not care if the wrecking ball has chips in it, or that it stinks, or that it has no bedside manner, or that it is dangerous and scary, or even if it was painted an unsightly orange color and capped with a giant combover…the American People simply care that it WORKS as intended…that it has the ability to WRECK when it needs to WRECK. You will have a hard time convincing the American People of otherwise, especially after they played hell, fighting to get this much-needed wrecking crew into office in the first place.
He’s using a nuclear bomb to fix a car.
It doesn’t make sense, and it doesn’t help anyone.
I welcome it
If there’s going to be a better system In it’s place
Your analogy is a bit off…He is using a bulldozer to clear out all of the little hiding places that treasonous criminals like to hide U.S. taxpayer monies. That is a more fitting description.
The policies that have been put in place by Donald Trump are only allowing for more corruption
That’s his goal
Look at this tax plan
Look at the organizations that were investigating Elon Musk that have been shut down
Look at the way Trump changes his mind when it’s convenient
Look at the way he misses his power to create executive orders that “make laws” even though that’s not the purpose of the power, and he has signed some that are definitively unconstitutional
Look at how he defied the courts order to reinstate grants and funding, and how when they held him to it, Elon Musk used his unprecedented access to Intel to expose private details about the judges daughter
How is this rooting out corruption
Bulldoze the whole system down
But we need to put something better in it’s place
Not something worse
You are already operating in a decidedly-negative hypothetical future when we still haven’t cleared away all of the present corruption.
We have neither the time nor the resources to preserve the existing infrastructure of corruption and comb through every little corner to patch up and fix, as we slowly trudge through the DC swamp. We need to act quickly and decisvely before the corrupt political class has a chance to stop or hinder the cleaning up of government corruption.
I understand that sometimes clearing out large swaths of the swamp is scary, but we don’t have any do-overs here. Trump either gets it done quickly, or we may loose everything.
If you think Trump is going to get rid of corruption and not make it worse, please improve your literacy skills and expand your range of media consumption.
It doesn’t do anyone any good to only look at views that align with their own, read some left wing articles, listen to bipartisan experts speak, expose yourself a little.
Use your critical thinking skills and ask what truly has been rooted out? I’ve heard of one thing with social security being claimed by people who are not the registered individual.
But he shut down programs that gave disabled people access to public buildings, required religious holidays to be days off, took grants away from college students, and other individuals that need them, and has deemed the constitution unconstitutional.
None of this is helping, and if you believe “oh he won’t do that” or “he won’t get away with it” or “he’ll do good things when he gets rid of the bad people” please take a look through our history, through his history, and think.
Do you really think most people care at this crucial history-making point if Trump completely eliminates corruption or not? Do you think people really give a hoot about how old he is, or if he had improper relations, or if he said something trashy, or that he changes his decisions? Their focus is on a single grand and culminating event at this time – the final destruction of the Deep State. All else is secondary. This nitpicking tactic you are now using is classic superficial TDS communiqué and you know it.
Nevertheless, using the former analogy of the termite-infested house again, it is as if you are giving me a guided tour on all of the nice little things in the house that don’t need to hit the landfill. You present a nice shiny light switch cover, a perfectly good piece of baseboard, a still-working window with a perfectly usable window screen. You show me all of the still-uncorrupted nice things in the house – when the American People have already given a thumbs up to the demolition crew to blow the entire home and make way for a much smaller, more efficient, termite-proof home.
Your argument is too little, too late. The American People don’t want the few uncorrupted and still-functioning trinkets in the home. They want the entire festering structure blown and replaced with less…MUCH less. And they are certainly not in the mood for “expanding their political horizons” by listening to more petty leftist complaining. They had enough of it during the dual OBIDEN terms to last them a lifetime.
Fact is, what Trump is doing now, is exactly what the American People elected him to do. Your bashing him (and them) with your prepared laundry list of “Everything Bad About Orange Man”, is really falling on deaf ears as the American People gather around the corrupt and condemned house, gleefully awaiting the necessary explosion that will ring in a new beginning.
It’s not about being mean
It about how he is setting up a more corrupt system, and calling for ethnic cleansing and genocide
He isn’t just mean
He wants to become more powerful by hurting others
But it’s ok if you want to believe otherwise
Just don’t complain when it gets worse
And your insane fantastical claim (with zero basis) is precisely why others have coined the term:“Trump Derangement Syndrome” – because it is an outwardly diagnosable delusional state of psychological projection, paranoia, and mass psychosis formation, from which communicative patterns can be noticed from miles away.
Even Elon had a couple of words about TDS being a real condition…
Excerpt: Billionaire Elon Musk said he didn’t realize “Trump Derangement Syndrome” was a real thing until he was at a friend’s dinner party a month or two before the Nov. 5, 2024 presidential election.
“I happened to mention the president’s name and it was like they got shot with a dart in the jugular that contained like methamphetamine and rabies,” Musk said in a joint interview with President Donald Trump that airs Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 9 p.m. EST on “Hannity.”
