For common sense student loan relief, instead of complete forgiveness, how about stop amortizing these loans and cut the interest rates in half. The government would still get their money back, still make some money off of some interest and the payments would be greatly reduced with the majority going to principal. For example out of a nearly $800/month payment, right now about $50 goes to principle. This seems like a reasonable compromise!
how about no interest. Credit for all interest paid so far against the loan.
