Civil Service vacation benefits are out of line with those in the private sector. Further, the large amount of vacation accrued by civil servants makes it very difficult to get work done effectively in government. My proposal is that the maximum vacation benefit be reduced from 26 days per year to 15. Further, one week of that vacation should be mandatory for all civil servants: the period between Christmas and New Years. Anyone with any experience with government knows that absolutely no work occurs during that week anway, so it might as well be considered mandatory.
To sum up: cap federal civil service vacation at 15 days/year and make 5 of those days be automatically assigned to Dec 25 -Jan 1st.
