Chinese ownership of US farmland

Ownership should be required to be clear. What i mean is no shell corporation ownership. Too easy for china to hide ownership. There must be transparency as to who owns land.

Sara, This is where blockchain technology regarding property ownership would really shine, I think. And it would quickly allow for identification of large entities like Blackrock, when in the process of accumulating a concentrated position in properties.

NO foreign governments/businesses should be allowed to buy property, businesses, or any other entities on American soil. PERIOD!

I agree with this as well - why in Mexico, if a non citizen wants to purchase land its a 99 year lease but land is still owned by the Mexican govt, and here we sell it willy nilly to internationals that want to control our farm land

I would go a step further, and say you have to be an American citizen to own land in our country.

Arkansas Gov Huckabee and I believe South Dakota Kristi Noem have already put laws on the books. So, we have a model to follow.

China meddled with our elections and government, they have spied on our country. The land that they have purchased in our country should be confiscated and any money that they have in our country should be taken. They should not be allowed to be here.

I agree w this w the exception of solar fields and limiting it to China, it should be all foreign entities. Seeing them in our neighborhood are an eyesore and waste of land. There are other alternative forms of solar energy if citizens or companies can utilize & less of an eyesore . (Ie panels on roofs of homes or buildings)

Agreed, it should be all other countries. China is singled out because it is such a growing threat to the U.S. and has even issued veiled threats of eventually taking over and owning the U.S. for themselves.

True, China could use proxy countries in East Asia to buy up U.S. land FOR the Chinese, so we should apply this restriction to all other foreign countries, foreign corporations, and proxies there of.

America should belong exclusively to Americans. Afterall, all land in China is exclusively owned by the Chinese govt, and they make no bones about it. Americans or U.S. corporations cannot own Chinese land – it is codified in Chinese law. So….tit for tat, as they say.

“Rules for thee, but not for me,” Confucius say.

I would also include any Native Indian with any % of blood are able to own land.

Naw, Chris…probably not. Native Americans are American and they love the land they live on…they would not hand it over to the Chinese without a vicious fight to the death. I know… I am well versed in native American culture and their traditions and beliefs. The Chinese are what we need to worry about. I know them and their methods and timetables as well.

Update on above: I thought Chris meant that Indians should also be included in NOT owning land (because they might conspire with Chinese). Chris means that Indians SHOULD own land (which I 100% agree - and which was the point of the above paragraph).

Let me give you a hint – we don’t import citrus, pecans, and sugarcane from China, and China has always seen all of Mississippi and Alabama as a massive horizontal stacked array of catfish farms via a controlled flooding of the Mississippi Delta, fed by the Mississippi River (these plans were conveniently and coincidentaly - just sayin’ - in the works when Roger Wicker, the man who suddenly won his re-count after first loosing his Mississippi re-election - perhaps simply coincidence, mind you. One might wonder if Wicker had a stake in “catfish farming” at one time, huh?.), and the Chinese have already “re-imagined” the entire gulf coast of America, including most of Louisiana, as a giant rice patty/crawfish farm to cover Chinese future food import interests. And this example is PRECISELY why China or its geopolitical or corporate proxies should not own U.S. Land (or politicians, for that matter.). :us:

IDK how to regulate foreigners from buying farmland unless the American sellers are on board and won’t sell their land to them and a large tax on American farmland would not deter many other countries but I suppose it is a good start
