Child Support and Veterans

Another thought is for our Veterans who have broken homes and pay child support their BAH shouldn’t be taken into consideration when figuring up child support. This puts incredible strain on the service member as well as the family they created after their marriage ended to the pervious person. I speak from experience with this because my husbands custody battle was finished and child support was set when we were at Joint Base Lewis Mcchord and our house was 2300 a month and with his base pay it showed he made 6,000 a month which was not what he brought home he brought home 1,500 every two weeks and we never had money to feed ourselves and pay our basic bills and that only included 1 car payment that was less than 500 a month. This is a broken system that caused him to end an 8 year career because it was no longer feasible for him to continue doing what he loved because he could no longer afford to survive paying 900 a month in child support. The child support and custody situation in this country is a broken mess and needs desperate attention immediately and dads dont need to suffer just because. I am 100% in support of supporting the children you helped create however dads who want to be present get punished and almost drown because of the astronomical child support amounts leading to possible further broken families because we all know money is the cause of a lot of divorces.
