We need to unlock the use of internet data and modeling tools to identify the people engaged in child predatory behavior, and we need to make sure legislation, in compliance with the constitution, clears the way to use internet user data and data collected from all internet users to identify the people harming children and remove them from society immediately.
I am in the tech space and I know how powerful data collection and profile building are. Through advanced pattern recognition and the use of tracking technology, I believe the data is already there to identify many predators. We need to make sure we are optimizing the use of data for this reason and removing all child predators from society.
The effect is twofold:
-
children are the most innocent people in the world and they deserve to be protected. Each and every child is worth fighting for and right now too many children are being horribly abused, usually by the very people who are supposed to be protecting them. This must end.
-
childhood abuse (if they survive) causes serious mental and emotional health conditions lasting the rest of the person’s life. As a society, we have an interest in ensuring that our adult population of future parents and employees and leaders is not tainted by early abuse that makes these people damaging and dangerous to society as adults. Cluster B personality disorders, for example (often triggered by early abuse), are far too common and they are very harmful.
We need national data privacy legislation anyway, that reins in commercial use of people’s personal data (something like Europe’s GDPR), and in that, we need clear exceptions for identifying child predators and removing them from society.
