I’d like to make a change to the established goals of President Trump’s plan to raise tariffs on Mexico and Canada. I believe we should raise tariffs on products that will go straight to stores. Items like cars, produce, etc. that there is no American labor behind it other than transportation. Unfinished or raw goods like lumber, unrefined oil, or other things that will turned into a US made product (wholly US made, not assembled out of parts made in another country) should either have the continued tariff or a minor increase if deemed necessary to support US business. I feel like this is a less extreme change that would be supported by more Americans (left and right) and would maybe help heal the country. Together we stand. Divided we fall.
