Change the language surrounding abortion and label elective abortion and medical abortion differently within the laws and when speaking on the topic. This would clear up confusion and help make policies that separate the two. I believe much of the country would be more united in this issue if the jargon was clarified as people universally do not want pregnant women dying from the inability to have a medical abortion and they also do not want women making the decision to electively abort their baby at 28 weeks (just as examples). Doctors should be able to make medical decisions to save a woman or baby without the term “abortion” hanging over their heads as these are not elective abortions. This is coming from a medical professional.

Also, they label a miscarriage as an abortion in medical terminology which must be modified. It disgusts me that someone like myself who unfortunately suffered a miscarriage has it written as a “missed abortion” in my medical record. I don’t know if this is a way to get more money from insurance companies, but there’s a stark difference and the ICD / CPT codes should reflect that. It NEEDS to be changed.
Also, it wouldn’t have been used as a political ploy on the left if the differentiation between the two were correctly identified in the medical world because they couldn’t call it an “abortion” if the woman was bleeding out (like they proposed in their commercial ad). They would have no leg to stand on to try and scare the American people.

We have doctors claiming that live c-sections are technically “abortions.”
They are really double-downing on their definition that abortion = termination of pregnancy.
