Making the government more accountable to the people who put them in their position. When we go to the grocery store we get a receipt for what are money was spent on. I propose the government sets up a website with receipts (records) of where they spend all our money. They know where we spend all our money. Why can’t it be reciprocated. I do understand some military expenses are a matter of national security. Basically, why can’t “We The People” have a say as to how our money is spent. Then, we would know in advance about all these fraud accounts that DOGE found before they happen. I also do realize that they are placed in government to make decisions on our behalf and best interests, but they have certainly proven they can not be trusted anymore. I say let the people see where all money is spent aside from national security accounts.
Not that this isn’t a good idea, but the government already lies to us about what they’re spending our money on. Otherwise, we wouldn’t see $1,200 toilet seats & $900,000 hammers in cost spreadsheets. Slush funds in government are so common we make memes about them. We had a slush fund that paid people off for sexual assault claims against Congresspersons until a few years back when Senator Rand Paul highlighted it in his Festivus Report. What I’m saying is yes, we should have a website that details where our money is going, but we’d never be able to take their word for the truth of where it is truly going. For example, do you really see the CIA posting travel receipts and hotel bills during their many regime change plots, because i certainly don’t and espionage agencies are notorious black holes for spending, just like the Pentagon?
