Candidates should only campaign 30 days prior to the election. As well, gov’t should provide set amount of funds depending on office desired. City council gets $X, county commissioner gets $X+, state legislators get $X++, state senators get $X+++ and all the way up to presidential office. It will bring America back to the ‘citizen legislator’ like was originally intended. The apathetic approach that most Americans take towards politics could in part be caused by the constant bombardment of political divisiveness caused by the constant campaigns. It’s time to do away with career beureacrats that have infected our nation.
