American education purposely shifted backwards since George Bush Sr. implemented Global Education 2000 in public school systems which took away children’s creativity and critical thinking skills. Now, we’ve moved it even further – particularly through the overconsumption of digital technology.
This proposal is to bring back art, cursive, and handwriting in schools. It is a simple yet critical component necessary for the human mind. Moving a pen, pencil, crayon, or paint brush on paper activates the logical analysis part of the brain, opening neuron pathways into creative application. Writing by hand in childhood education and every day life can override indoctrination of “what” to think by empowering people “how” to think again.
