Cryoablation is a non invasive outpatient procedure used to treat cancerous tumors in the lung, liver, and breast. It freezes the cancer cells (tumor) and kills it completely with a 95% disease free survival rate of the patient over 5 years. It has the added benefit of immune system recognition of cancer in 15% of patients.
This procedure is covered by insurance for lung and liver but is not covered for breast cancer. Many women with tumors smaller than 3cm can easily be treated with cryoablation and cure their cancer without surgery or mastectomies. They can return to their families and jobs immediately as there is no down time.
Patients who want to avoid surgery must come out of pocket 10-50k to have the procedure done, and it’s difficult to find a place that will perform it.
I’m proposing that if the requirements of stage and tumor size are met (outlined in many studies)that insurance covers this either in part or entirely. It’s much less expensive than traditional treatment and the trauma of chemotherapy and invasive surgery is avoided. With the added benefit of the immune system learning about the cancer and fighting it naturally.
Thank you and God Bless America
