Benefits for Cancer Survivors

As a leukemia survivor, I have had both of my hips replaced and my knee replaced due to the effects of cancer treatment. I have been denied disability benefits by social security by them saying the surguries are not connected to my cancer. Life is hard and expensive enough that i have had to work being disabled. I dont mind working but people do not realise how tough of a toll it takes on a person that has been through a bone marrow transplant and chemo on top of the other surgeries. I believe that cash assistance would be ideal since most people on disability cant live off of it in the first place. Not to mention the mental toll it takes from having PTSD and the addiction of all of the medications a cancer patient takes and continues to take as a survivor. None of the aftercare of being a cancer survivor is cheap. Im not saying i myself or anyone should have a free ride but to have the assistance to be able live comfortably and be compensated for our pain and suffering definitely should be a policy for assistance.
