Recent issues regarding the toxins found in women’s period products shows a need for better regulations to ensure they are safe for use. The quality of period products are vital to a woman’s health and wellbeing.
Menstrual products are now considered “medical devices” and in the US are exempt from listing the ingredients on the label.
I think ALL menstrual products should have a list of ingredients (full disclosure) listed on the packaging.
When women tried to get this passed previously and started making and selling cloth menstrual pads oy away from gamers chemicals. But some idiot passed a law that made cloth menstrual pads being made and sold by seamstress “medical devices” and required the small, home based women seamstresses to buy a “medical device license” to legally sell these in the US or face heavy fines and/or jail time.
Cloth pads are made with the same materials as cloth baby diaper yet baby diapers are not considered a medical device and do not require a thousand of dollars license to sell.
I sold cloth menstrual pads on Etsy for years and all of my rashes and menstrual issues disappeared when I moved away from the chemically laden garbage being sold commercially. But I and many other seamstresses had to stop selling for fear of facing fines and jail time.
