The FDA has marked Maltodextrin, Dextrose, modified starches & high fructose corn syrup “Generally Regarded As Safe” (GRAS) when eaten in moderation. The FDA has never set the standard for “moderation” and it is in nearly everything we eat that was processed in a manufacturing plant.
The FDA knows that eating ultra processed carbs on a regular basis, causes heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Furthermore, these products are put in foods that are marketed directly to people who are trying to lose weight or who have type two diabetes. The only people that benefit from using them are people that train very hard and their body will use those extra carbs. No one denies that there is an obesity problem in America, removing these products from our shelves will put us in the right direction.
