Ban government interference with media

The Twitter Files revealed a massive network of back channels by which Federal, State, and even local governments directly control news and social media content.

This network should be dismantled; and any such collusion should be made illegal going forward.

Future government communications with media should be FOIA-discoverable and free of content control efforts (except as needed for specific criminal law enforcement and terrorism cases).

Violations of this rule by any government actor or surrogate should be criminal.

Additionally, any news company receiving a content control effort from a government representative should have a legal obligation to report it to a bipartisan oversight committee.
