We in the USA need a massive overhaul on our food. I’m tired of spending hours in the grocery store shopping because I have to look at every single ingredient in everything to make sure it doesn’t have horrible ingredients. I’m calling for a ban of the following items in our food-
We should know what we are eating!! I have a chronic illness that causes me to react HORRIBLY to most of those “ingredients” and medications among many other things. Other countries don’t have this issue and We never saw it as common as we do now!! Food and drug standards need to change before more and more young Americans get sick!!
I do not like these things in our food either , BUT please be careful in allowing the government too much power to heap regulation on private companies. We do not want to give government more power than what is necessary to keep the food supply safe. We can’t always look to government to fix problems and be healthy. Consumer demand can go a long way to making private companies meet demand for healthy food. That said, the current state of government regulation on food is terrible and cannot be trusted, but we must moderate how much we allow the government to control things.
If the FDA were doing its job, and the USDA, those ingredients wouldn’t be available to private companies in the first place. It is simply totally logical and reasonable that poisons should never be put into food, and should be banned on the national level. The government protects the people who produce and sell these poisons. The government already has too much power, and it is using it to protect the wrong people. Regulators have been bought.
Agree and disagree respectively. I do think we need complete control over food additives and the agency needs to be designated by the people, for the people with a natural and healthy approach. I think we are about to see a big shift in what we call government and it’s negative image. This is why we are here now. I think that is why this platform arose and is gaining so much momentum.thank you Jill:blush:

Most of the fruits and vegetables we eat are genetically modified to one degree or another. What we need is more research and transparency first, then an assessment of which modifications benefit us (ex: HT/Bt corn) and which benefit corporations (ex: high fructose corn syrup)
Agreed, the main issue here is not letting big food bribe the fda people to allow unsafe, toxic ingredients on the shelves, for profit, in the first place!
Don’t forget: alcohol sugars, artificial sweeteners, and concentrated sugars. Also don’t forget about products that have BPH in them.
The best example for healthy food is Japan replacing high amounts of sugar and salt in foods for umame which emphasizes bringing out the flavor of foods with a variety of methods. Food needs to be fresh, organic, and natural. They need to use natural methods for keeping foods from being eaten by bugs such as using vegetable oil for example.
The soil needs to be nutrient dense with being packed with natural nutrients. The quality of the soil determines the nutrition quality of foods. We should not use phosphates in the soil. We need to retreat the soil and re-add all the nutrients before reuse of planting new crops.
It is impossible to mitigate the current food system. I have tried for years to eat “healthy.” I totally agree that we need a massive overhaul on our food, including the food in restaurants. I cannot name one restaurant that offers a truly healthy farm-to-table meal.
Every fast food chain restaurant needs factory farms, massive monocultures and commercial food suppliers to offer the cheapest food. When eating out is a daily option for most Americans, then this industry must also be transformed… “Americans reported cooking an average of five dinners per week; 8 % never, 43 % sometimes and 49 % always cooked dinner at home.” https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles
It’s hard to believe that we in the USA are subjected to lower standards of food products than other countries. Why are so many ingredients that are banned outside of the US that are known to be harmful for human consumption allowed to remain in our foods?
Sorry, but you’re wrong. While there is a small amount of MSG naturally occurring in some foods, this is not what I am talking about. I am talking about banning ADDING pure MSG to foods.
Harmless it’s not. It destroyed my adrenal glands, and any time I get the smallest amount of added MSG in anything, I get the runs with severe pain, and nothing will stop it except Detox. I have read of what it does to other people, and there is a long list of possibilities.
GMOs are literally the only reason our species is alive and as successful as it is. GMO plants and food are not a problem, every single pepper, corn, grape, etc you eat is a GMO. Even the ones growing in your organic garden.
