The companies that provide housing on Army installations take all of the BAH that is given to service members when the housing is not worth the amount they take. The houses are falling apart, have mold, and the upkeep even with work orders place get bandaid fixes that are cheap and temporary yet will charge you for every single thing when you PCS. Section 8 housing is nicer than military housing. What you can get off post for BAH is not equivalent to what we get on post. These housing companies charge for rugs and floors but then never fix them for the next tenants. It’s sad the state these military houses are for the families. Something needs to change. The housing companies should have one rate for all neighborhoods and if the BAH is higher the families get the difference. You have SFC living on the same street in the same floor plan as a Private yet they are paying different amounts for the BAH rent due to their rank. It’s not ethical for these companies to take advantage of military families. If the housing companies actually used the money we gave them for BAH into fixing the houses and the community/neighborhoods it wouldn’t be bad but we see zero improvement in our community and we see the way work order are looked over or “fixed” but just slapped a temporary bandaid on them.
