Why should Americans buy food AND pay farm subsidies to those whose income is greater than theirs (on average)? Subsidy programs should be limited in duration and geared to assist only as necessary. Farm aid has become an entitlement that resembles welfare, stifles innovation, unfairly takes from taxpayers to benefit the well-off, drives up the cost of land, and pits Americans against their neighbors. Most American households have to manage their own financial risk…no permanent safety net.
