American Identification Card

All US born and Naturalized citizens should be issued an ID card since birth. The ID card should be the same across all states. This is the only country in the world where there are no ID cards. Not drivers licenses; identification cards. Those would be needed for healthcare, banking, schools, and any business performed in the US including voting.

there are problems with this … its like the “show me your papers” … the problem is with privacy

It’s only a problem because you’ve never lived it. If you have nothing to hide there’s no problem. Do you have a drivers license? If you’re stopped, do you have to show ID? If you buy cigarettes or alcohol do you have to show ID?

I think less kids would disappear if the adult had to show kinship.
If your ID was required to legally obtain any government program.

Less fraud.

Helena, the issue isn’t about having “nothing to hide”—it’s about preserving personal freedom and privacy. In America, we value individual liberty and limited government oversight. A national ID tied to every activity risks creating a system where the government can track citizens’ lives, like a surveillance state. Our Constitution emphasizes protecting freedoms, even from government overreach. Convenience doesn’t outweigh these principles. Ensuring safety and preventing fraud are important, but we must do so without undermining the values that make America unique.
