Amend the Smith-Mundt modernization act of 2012

During WW2 we understood we needed propaganda for the war effort, but that it should never be used on the American people. After a long back and forth that began to change. It had reached a point where government produced material could be accesssed, but not widely distributed, until Obama slipped the modernization act into an NDA in 2012. The idea was, you can’t stop propaganda with the internet, so we might as well ‘prepare’ for that. It has became an excuse for our media to lie to us about everything. There was an amendment brought up in (I believe) 2010, before it passed, stating that all media created by our government should be clearly labeled as such, that needs to be passed. In addition, there needs to be some updates that include journalistic standards for any organization receiving a penny of taxes (regardless of how or how much) or wants to be labeled as “news”. In 2025 ‘opinion’ shows should be carted off the mainstream cycle and forced to social media. That way propagandists like Rachel Maddow or Joy Reid can still strike their egos, without rotting the brains of the masses. I’m sure in todays world lots of people have other great ideas to contribute, but this is an area that must be fixed or nothing else will be as effective.
