Allow HSAs to cover vitamins, supplements, and alternative treatments without letters of medical necessity

There is a multitude of vitamins, supplements and alternative medicines that show incredible efficacy but people are forced to pay out of pocket for supplements used to stay healthy. I’m not even asking for insurance to cover them, I just want them to be eligible to be paid for with a tax free HSA. These are common necessities humans require to live healthy and are not longer available in the highly processed American diet. They keep people away from chronic disease and reduce the tax payer burden on society. It is common sense and an easy way to improve health on a large scale air a low cost.

I agree, with ONE ADDENDUM!

  1. The amount in the found should NVR decrease, unless used by the owner of the account.
  2. If you leave the job or whatever, the amount should follow the person.
  3. ANOTHER THING! The FDA and government should STOP LYYING TO THE PUBLIC! Vitamin C TREATS AND CURES SCURVY AND MANY OTHER SUCH CONDITIONS! THAT IS ABSOLUTE, REAL SCIENCE, PEER REVIEWED, KNOWN FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS, FACT!!! B vitamins, A vitamins, “vitamin D”, Vitamin E, And several others ALSO TREAT AND CURE diseases! ZINC can even DETECT DISEASE! Magnesium is VITAL for a LOT, etc… SO STOP LYING TO TH PUBLIC!!!

Yes, somehow preventative vitamins, supplements, healthy alternatives, even therapy devices should be paid for. I had to take money out of 401k (cause we live paycheck to paycheck) just to see someone holistic to help me handle chronic pain, and also to afford the supplements. actually, I would like insurance to pay for it. help somehow!

This leads into the bigger issue of how wide open the vitamins, supplements and alternative medicines market is. There are no standards, it is very buyer beware.

I spend a lot of time researching each and every pill I need before I buy it. I then have to research each and every company that sells it to find good quality, reputable and reasonably priced products. ( I still spend a lot of money each month)

There are also natural medicines, herbs, spices etc. that have been used for hundreds of years by indigenous peoples all around the world. This too is not controlled.

The one thing I was able to do was confirm that the vitamins and supplements I am taking are working because of the many blood tests I had to take due to a surgery I had.
