Agricultural Education Policy

I grew up in rural South Georgia, where having an agricultural class inside your high school and middle school was normal. After venturing out into my adult years, I realize that not all high schools or even middle schools offer that option. I think it should be mandatory that every child take at least one year in high school school of agriculture. To understand our food systems, how important farmers, are how important it is to know what makes our food, and how pollination and the bees are important for our food. I learned so much in the years I took Ag that have benefited me into my adulthood and what SHOULD BE important to our people. Farmers don’t get the appreciation they need. We learned about not only farming but horticulture, animal sciences, and propagation. After seeing not every child gets this it showed me just how important it is because not every kid gets the chance. We even learned what plants to identify and eat if we were stranded! How helpful!
