Some insurance companies will cover the cost of abortions yet wont cover the cost of fertility treatments. I believe that if a company will cover an abortion, they should also have some sort of fertility coverage as well especially if the birthrate in the USA are decreasing every year. If a company chooses to not cover an abotion, they dont have to cover fertility. They shouldn’t be able to choose one or the other. This policy would:
If an insurance company covers abortions, they are also required to cover some sort of fertility treatment
If an insurance company does NOT cover an abortion, they do not have to cover fertility treatment
Insurance companies sometimes don’t offer coverage for abortions for severe fatal abnormalities, ending up costing the mother thousands of dollars. I made a suggestion in my policy idea for insurance to cover the cost of abortion if it’s to save the mother’s life or there’s some severe/fatal fetal abnormality.
I’m on a group insurance plan via Kaiser. I’m personally opposed to the idea of my insurance covering other people’s elective treatments, like IVF or elective abortions or trans surgeries. I wish we can have a right to opt out of all those things and let the people that support that pay the higher premiums.
Anyway, for more details my proposed policy package, it’s called “Establish a right to maternal & fetal healthcare and stabilize the abortion issue.”
