The BATFE has continually made rules that are confusing to the common citizen, they have been the center of many controversies such as the waco incident with the branch davidians, and ruby ridge. They maintain a stance to protect the people yet a recent study has shown that firearm ownership does NOT lead to an increase in gun violence or homicide. The BATFE has an estimated budget of 1.8 million dollars, but what exactly do they do with that budget?
A well known example of a BATFE controversy was operation fast and furious. This operation led to approximately 2000 firearms being sold to straw buyers for the Mexican cartels. Of these approximate 2000 firearms only 710 were recovered by Mexican officials. It also led to the death of a border patrol officer.
In closing the BATFE has shown to be ineffective at its job and therefore should either be abolished or drastically have funding cut, the rules they put in place only effect the law abiding citizen while the criminal will still be a criminal regardless of the law.
