Once someone spends 30 years working hard to pay off their home why do they continue to have to pay property tax? Once the home is paid off, the land it sits on should be paid off as well.

Implement a land tax in replacement of property Tax. Why does it matter the size of the house I build? Why do speculators buy land and hold waiting for a big payday?
A land tax would lower the taxes for all homeowners and increase the taxes for speculators. Land speculators would improve the land instead of just sitting on it and wasting the space.
Now that RFK is looking into regenerated farming, we are going to need land. Raise the tax for large land owners, that have no plan to improve it.
I agree. Abolish property taxes. We pay tax when we buy it! If we sell it the next owner pays the tax again. So as long as there is a property tax, we never really own it. Once retired and on a fixed income, many can no longer afford their property taxes and end up turning their homes over to the state to live in a nursing home OR having their homes taken for back taxes!
