A new realistic solution for undocumented people who want to become Americans

I would like to propose finding a new way to help undocumented people currently living in the US become citizens. I want to leave it pretty open while giving my suggestion. I understand the open border allowed any one and any thing to come into our country and people need to be vetted. I’m asking that we find a solution for vetting America loving undocumented immigrants. Here’s my idea…
if a person has been living in the US for 10 or 15 years with no criminal record, can prove they can support themselves , have no foreign interests, that we allow their boss to vouch for them to stay and work towards citizenship. I’m keeping it simple because I recognize I’m no expert, and someone a lot more knowledgeable than I would figure out the details. Thanks

I, for one, do not.

If they have lived in the US for 10 or 15 years, why have they not gone to one of the many immigration lawyers and tried to become legal?

Is breaking the law and not getting caught a reason to not suffer the consequences?

NO.
Funny I have to write a whole sentence.
NO.

I wonder how many natural born American citizens who have lived here all their lives would be able to pass the test given to prospective new citizens. 50%? 25%? I personally think that a vetted interview as proposed by Hilla Hillailla makes more sense. It is human nature to let things slide. People are busy just living their lives day by day. My opinion is that people that are being productive in this country through their efforts are people we want to be citizens of America. People who are not citizens but on the public dole are the ones that are taking and not contributing anything. Get them working, contributing, paying taxes like the rest of us, or they go back to their country of origin. I know this is a big job. Apparently millions of illegals with no vetting whatsoever were allowed to stay in this country over the last 4 or 5 years. Where are they now? What are they doing? God knows, I certainly do not.

I agree with you. Watching some man on the street interviews I am amazed some people can function in society.

For the people who read this, here are some practice tests to see how YOU would do passing the test.

https://uniontestprep.com/u-s-citizenship-test/practice-test

And before you take the test, you can download a 45 page study booklet,

and read 100 sample questions and answers with explanations in your native language BEFORE you take the test. Study the 100 questions, they will ask you 10, and you only have to get 6 correct (60%). If you are over 65, you only need to study 20 pre-identified questions, you are ask 10, and only need 6 correct.

There is no excuse for not passing.

If they have entered the country legally and meet the above requirements, i have no problem with your suggestion, however if they are illegally here, they need to leave and enter country legally.

Turn off the television. Turn off the illegal migration magnet.

Here is a very simple graphic to help you understand the difference between legal and illegal migration. And when deportations are relevant, or not.

The people we are talking about are people who have explicitly not entered the country legally.

DISAGREE. Everyone is talking about how we need to help the ILLEGALS currently in this country.
Why don’t we allow the millions of law abiding people waiting in the legal immigration backlog to gain entry into America first. My son has been waiting 9 years for a green-card to be available. Why should those breaking the law have a chance of the American dream before him.

Crossing the border illegally is a crime. Therefore, one hundred percent of all ‘undocumented people’ are criminals no matter when they came to the US illegally. If we reward people for breaking the law, it incentivizes more illegal activity. Deport them all and make them come back the right way so they can be properly vetted. Personally, I think anyone who comes here illegally should be deported and banned from ever coming back. Do it the legal way the first time, or don’t come at all.

I read that there is a huge waiting list just to apply, because we only allow so many applications per year. So a lot of people who came to be with family, and are hard working good people, either end up staying and becoming illegal, or have to go back and basically start over somewhere they haven’t been in years, and try to make plans to return to their loved ones at some future date when they can finally take the citizenship test.

So I say we prioritize anyone with family here that are legal US citizens. They don’t have to wait to to apply. But if you just came and decided to stay, or snuck in, or came to drop your baby, then no, you can wait. We’ve got plenty of those.

where are the 350,000 CHILDREN who were trafficked into this country? The great Tom Homan has rounded up over 10,000 of them-out of conditions of sex slavery or servitude. He says he will not rest until we find them all. Where are they now, what are they doing?
