Instead of taking valuable farm land for huge solar farms, start by covering open parking lots with those panels. It brings the power source closer to civilization thus reducing cost to build and maintain, covers/shades vehicles from harsh conditions, and lots can even be resurfaced with ice melting technology for cold climate areas, power charging stations in the lot, or be used to bring power to traffic lights and street lights in the area.
Huge factories and plants can also get some sort of tax credit to install panels on their roofs if some of the energy produced is put back into the grid. Not only does it reduce energy cost for that facility and they can maybe upgrade their own internal systems, go to higher wages or employee benefits, hire more labor, or lower costs to produce thus lowering consumer prices.
Airports, schools, government buildings, and plenty of other buildings could be equipped with the same systems before we start taking land to build these huge farms.
This is just a basic concept and could be further expanded upon, but the general idea is to bring the power source closer and preserve valuable farm land.
