Use robots and regulated AI to work the other days if possible. I said REGULATED AI…so don’t downvote over that. Basically it would just be for solving work related problems.
Use another worker (first works M-W, second works T-Sat) to cover the full week if item 1 is not doable.
Economic deflation will allow for a 3 day workweek budjet. Imagine paying 10 cents a gallon for gas or a nickel for milk. Tariffs are one way to partly acheive this. Another is auditing the federal government to eliminate all wasteful and corrupt spending. These things will already be implemented by Trump when he wins.
Eliminate mortgages by removing regulations with a waiver of liability and allow people to build their own homes. My grandfather built his own home with his own hands. It took him two years. He had no mortgage.
Abolish property tax and income tax. This can be mitigated by item 3 above.
Make one day per week a national economic holiday where everything is shut down and nobody is working except emergency services. This ought to be a day spent with family. It also would reduce a carbon footprint.
The result of these ideas and possibly others is that we no longer live to work but work to live. I believe there are countries in Europe already implementing a 4 day workweek, so this isn’t just a pipedream.
We do need to plan ahead for the upcoming effects of AI on our jobs. OTOH, I think that working towards a 32 hour work week would be a more fitting step. Going from 40 hours to 24 weeks seems like a big jump right now. And even the 32 hour week is controversial. Democrat legislators have proposed versions of the 32 hour work week, in Congress, and in California state, but it never made it past committees. We likely won’t have enough Democrat votes to pass a reduced hour work week.
I propose some alternate ideas here. These ideas are probably too liberal to pass, but who knows, maybe it’s alternative enough to gain some support. Anyway, here it is. Would you please view it?
Yes but there’s not enough elected Republicans to even entertain the idea of a 3 day work week right now. The good news is that at least the 32 hour week is being discussed, but unfortunately still not enough support to be put for a floor vote.
