CommonSenseReform

I’m a producer and nonprofit leader who has worked in arts advocacy for years. I’m “progressive” on most issues, but I’m currently politically homeless because extremists have taken over the narrative on both sides of the aisles.

I’m sick of the two-party system, sick of the rampant corruption, sick of waiting for change to come from elected leaders.

I believe in Creative Revolution…rather than just complaining about what we hate.
I believe in social entrepreneurship and social venture investing.
I believe in communities coming together to build better paradigms that make current destructive systems obsolete.
I believe in empowering individuals and communities toward self reliance, rather than investing public dollars in unsustainable welfare systems that trap low-income folks in cycles of poverty and reliance on the state.
I believe in sustainable, holistic, compassionate change that effectively tackles generational cycles of violence, addiction, poverty and chronic disease.

I am dedicated to non-aggression, but I’m fully against pandering to violent extremists.
I believe that anti-Jewish racism is a pox on humanity and that people on all sides of the political spectrum need to have some modicum of moral consistency and do far more to fight the rising tide of hate.
I believe, as Karl Popper put it, that tolerating intolerance will lead to the death of tolerance itself. Incitement to violence is not protected speech, and if either side of the political spectrum fails to stand up to the intolerant among us who preach violence as a solution, they are paving the way for authoritarian strongmen to step in and provide people with the safety and security they need.

I’m grateful for any tools like this that enable the wisdom of everyday people to be voted up and considered by/enacted by our legislators.
