I recognize the need for help when people are experiencing hard times. But make this program a limited time and require users to work and pay into a fund which would replenish the money used.
Everyone falls on hard times at some point however the system is broken when an employee tells u I cant make more than this ornI have to quit because I lose my disability check and medicaid. Allow these programs to those truely disbaled. If you can be trained for another job field that removes your disability as a reason to work like a laborer being trained for a desk job then this should be done. And limit the amount of time on food stamps, medicaid etc to like 4 yrs. Pell is available for an education to get a job for those that qualify for the programs however some decide never to improve their situation because they dont have to.
My biggest issue is when I hear they want to give up a job that earns money to hold onto a check that doesn’t. If you’re able to work, you should work. There are very few cases that are truly permanent and complete disability. Most are limited or temporary disability and should be treated as such. This day and age, there’s always something people can do to earn money that won’t rely on a handout. They should be encouraged, by permanent lifetime limitations, to take welfare handouts as a limited resource and actively seek better opportunities. People deserve help when they need it, but they’re not going to sit on it without end, nor turn down paying work in lieu of a free check.
I agree totally. Welfare has become an occupation in this country and some people are having more and more kids just to get bigger and bigger checks and that’s not the idea of welfare.
This isn’t a race issue it’s an economic issue and it’s become a sad norm. The more you give people for nothing, the more they expect and want.
There’s plenty people can do to earn that assistance and even if it’s just volunteer work in the community if a person is active it changes how they feel about themselves.
We can do better. All of us can
