My husband is active duty PA ANG. We have been on tricare for the better part of 20 years. It’s been better than any healthcare I’ve been offered through work as a prime contractor to the DoD. We are in Pittsburgh and I can go to any health system without a referral. Our catastrophic cap is very low. My son had emergency rotator cuff surgery ($75k) and has been in PT almost all year ($15k) and we paid under $3k out of pocket. Yet, veterans are not offered this same healthcare at the same costs, why? The VA is always the butt of every joke. Can’t we figure out how to afford all that serve our country and their families the same low cost - go anywhere healthcare? I think they’ve earned it.
