To be more specific, I think that doctors must be required to be transparent about the symptoms/side effects of anything from a drug to surgery. Moreover, I do not think that this should just mean that they can just give you a paper with them listen but have to have conversations.
A lot of this comes from my personal experience. I have had to see doctors often since a young age due to seizures/epilepsy and very few of the doctors I saw actually explained the side effects of medications I took. The best ones did and often gave papers with information printed about them, but this is something that is easily ignorable as the average person is likely prone to just throw it away and presume their doctor would not recommend something with serious consequences to them.
In many respects, I think this is a huge problem with the medical system today. The reason you have so much ignorance on certain topics isn’t just because of a lack of education but the doctors themselves never tell their patients. I am not sure if this is an executive problem, but it has certainly not been done by the powers that should be dealing with it.
